This is gonna go one way or the other. I live in Greece and not a single MP can be trusted imo. He wants to stay in Europe but feels they have been dicked by Merkel et al. If and it's a big if he can pull this off......... then that is the end of the EU . I think the EU will stand firm and very little leeway will be given . Who knows ...... David and Goliath anyone ?????????

Seen a few things where when referring to EU they are directing it at Merkel.

Greeks possibly despise the Germans more than any other nationality I worked with on my travels. Wouldn't be hard for anyone there to win an election on the back of an anti German stance.

True that I had a taxi driver in Skiathos going into meltdown over the Germans, vampires of europe was one of his milder moments, proper lost the plot just ranted till about a minute before i got out, he said sorry for that but you know what there like, i just said its ok mate i understand, wasnt going to say anything diffrent the mood he was in, god help any german tourist that got in the taxi after me.

the problem they are facing is if the give Greece a deal, what about Spain, Portugal, Eire, all facing bailout condisions and all have elections in the near future, if the EU gives in they are all bound to follow suit?
Also the mood within Germany has changed people are asking why, when we are having to work longer retirement is going up to 67 are we funding or if they get there way giving away billions to a country, were even now it is only going up to 62 to retire , in short they are feeling like why am i working an extra five years to let the some Greek sit on there arse in the sun.
Its shaping up to be a nasty few years here for the EU, the southern countries are getting or look to be getting left wing goverments, while the northern goverments and lets face it the paymasters of it all, are facing a rise of right wing or right of centre nationalist party,'s in most of there countrys , ukip national front ect , they might not hold power but they can sway public anger and policy as govements try to quell there rise.
I like Greece and its people so hope they get out of this ok, but its a intresting path they have set off on.

The EU politicians will do a deal that saves face. Debt will not be reduced, but the time and rates will be adjusted. Another EU stitch up is on it's way and Europe will continue on it's downward slide.......

you know what peteblue your more than likely right, the Greek economy is running at a surplus of 3% but they are currently borrowing money to pay back the money they borrowed in a downward spiral so no chance of moving forward.
The gobshites that run the EU will do anything to keep there vanity project in place, i hope it all goes tits up myself because its a threat to every working class person in Europe, scratch the surface and its big business that calls the shots at that place not the people of Europe.
