Greed is good

Ha ha ha ha.

Evertons reps were sent out of the room for a coffee while the big boys talked turkey over the future of the game.

Mate, you need to post that also in the Moshiri thread for those who think this feller is having any impact to have a look at. That'll sober them up.

hmm, that can't be true. Are the chinese really that thick that they'd think they could put a financial package forward where it only benefits uner 1/3rd of the league and they'd get a majority backing?

Listen, this top 6 malarky is an utter myth. Spurs have only been as big as they are for a few seasons, and we'll be on that path soon as well. But the top 6 is a myth, when was the last time a season actually finished with all those six finishing as the top 6 respectively. Like as stated in the article, us, saints, west ham, leicester, newcastle. This season west brom are closer to united than 2nd place is to 1st. I can't remember a season where the supposed current top 6 actually finished as the top 6, like it is this season. This season is the one off if anything and two of those teams haven't had europe to content with this season. Next season liverpool will be back to struggling and back down at about 8th where they've been recently.

Dont think its the Chinese proposing it TJ its the so called big boys wanting a larger slice,

This doesn't ring true, how can six clubs exclude 14, can't see Everton and the other 13 clubs leaving a meeting in the manner described.
If a motion put forward to suspend the meeting to allow six clubs to debate an issue on their own it would have been defeated.
The six may have met in private prior to the main meeting but surely not as described.

Don't shoot the messenger mate.

What did you think of the OP? I thought it was fascinating and worthy of a lot of comment.

It's a message you've been peddling every day you've been here. It's only worthy of comment if it's a chance to bash the club in some way. Supporters are supposed to support. It's all in the name.

As for the OP, twas ever thus. We've slipped out of the cabal that decide things after 20 odd years of poor management. We've undoubtedly got some catching up to do, but I think we're on the road to doing that, not least on the pitch where we're in a rude run of form.

It seems to be the norm for one of these to miss out on top 6 as opposed to those 6 to make that up. Liverpool have missed out many a time, that 2013/14 season was a freak one off and there's no guarantee they'll make top 6 this season either.

Could possibly disclude those bottom two years, but since 2007/08 season, we've finished top 7 6 out of the 9 seasons, with this season looking to make it 7/10 (thanks to two underachieving seasons under martinez). Which is even more regular that Liverpool's appearances in this mythical top 6.

A good half a season and once again their delusion has them thinking they're still part of the "big boys". So there is a question why it's not referred to as the top 7? After all (including this season), in the last 7 seasons, there's been times those same top 7 teams have made it up than not, a much higher percentage than this mythical top 6 making up the top 6 in the finishing table, anyway.

The point is, money can always been thrown at the prem, they thought the top 4 would never be broken, it was only around for a few years and then it got broken and has now expanded to this "top 6".

This seems more likely...or something similar
I can't see some one out of the 14 not piping up

They grab the Golden Goose by the neck too tightly at their ( and it has to be said - Our ) own risk
or will they all move over to the G14/Euro league or what ever it is the Plan B is.

If this were true, I'm aghast and find it inexplicable that that the majority of representatives meekly walked away to let the "big boys" talk.

The premier league, IMHO has been an abomination of an idea from day 1. I'm ashamed we were amongst the instigators. If these self appointed "elite" clubs believe that a level playing field is not needed, then I have a proposal:
The other 14 clubs disassociate themselves from the premier league, and form something called.... For the sake of argument, the first division - top of the FA pyramid.
The remaining 6 can play each other every week and count their cash. The cash, however wouldn't last long, because who, really, is going to watch the same few fixtures every few weeks. Eventually they'll form a league with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and Bayern and play slightly more fixtures. The clubs will become like the Harlem Globetrotters of football, skilled, entertaining but scripted to maximise revenue and sportingly not fulfilling. Eventually their own fans will miss the unpredictability of playing the traditional fixtures, and soon interest in the overhyped ballerinas would dry up.
