"Flares were thrown at visiting players, but there were a couple of provocative moves by the guest team, Olympiakos. Their chairman and manager went towards the stand and made some gestures inviting people to invade the pitch, and they did, about 20 people, that lasted for five to 10 minutes

Imagine Bill Kenwright and @chicoazul inviting people to invade the pitch and throw flares.

No pyro no party?

Brings new meaning to the terms.

All kicked off in Athens again last night, with no away fans to go at the Gate 13 lot at Panathinaikos lobbed flares at the players kick off delayed and then 2 1/2 hours later the game was postponed so they had a bigger riot having a go at the police in the stadium and then the streets.
Blamed the Ref.

Good grief

Been happening for years tbh and in the past the clubs were 'involved in it' in a way. Lad I worked with was full blown Olympiakos (from Thessaloniki) and they'd firebombed a coach that was going the opposite way when travelling home after a game, he told us that the clubs supplied the loons with tickets and travel (to ensure vociferous support) and he had been to Vienna on a chartered plane where they looted loads of jewellers, he showed me the front page of a newspaper filled with mugshots of which he was one, said they were all loaded up on plane home and then whisked out of the back of the airport after landing. It was a national paper but none of them were charged as palms were filled with drachma and everything ignored, he was the ugliest man in greece so instantly recognisable... he said everyone knew who everyone was on there.

With regards to last night the club are blaming the ref for causing it and threatened to pull of the league, they've urged their fans to protest at their fa on wednesday.

I can see why the government took that decision in February now!
