What is the best running dog that's also a good family pet? 11/17/2011 9:33PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I've been researching the crap out of this question, but I'm one of those guys who can never get enough information before making a major decision - like buying a dog. Does anyone have a recommendation for a great running dog that's also a great family pet? I'm looking for a dog that can run a marathon with me, handle technical trails and will be safe with my young children. So far I'm looking at German Shorthaired Pointers, Vizslas, Brittanys and Rhodesian Ridgebacks (okay, I really want an RR, but I'm kind of worried about my wife and kids being able to handle it while I'm at work, even though I can bring a dog into my office). THANKS!

How do guide dogs know when to cross the road? 5/27/2009 12:14PM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
I was walking to school today and there was this blind lady with her black Labrador guide dog waiting to cross the street. It was a two laned one way street. There was a car at a red light in one lane and the other lane was completely empty. As I was walking by I told her she could cross the road, which she duly did.Now I'm thinking whether I should have left them alone and let the dog decide when to cross. Did I mess up its routine or something? At first I was glad I helped but now I'm kinda worried...
