As a member of Her Majesty's Finest, i am sat at work with Jeremy Vine in the background and hes on about Israel and Iran etc. some of his callers are asking why we arent getting involved in this.............
When did we become the police force for the world? How presumptious of us to think we should press our own idealogy on a foreign culture! Whilst i dont agree with many of the customs and culture of these states ITS NONE OF MY BUSINESS. Damn it why do people try and drag us into another conflict, with financial cuts in the global economy the Armed forces are stretched from pillar to post so if we did get involved it woould be half hearted which is the SINGLE most dangerous state of play.

If Israel toed the line it would basically get rid a lot of the reasons that these other places kick off, seems they are allowed to do whatever by the west though, they get 'pulled into line' now and again but ignore it in the main. Giving endless problems that cost billions for other nations.

we need to get shiz in this country in order before spunking wadges on going elsewhere.

Fighting 'another mans war,' all fecks me off tbh as a lot of lives have been lost for something that I see more and more as being down to a nation that is only interested in provocation and would happily put it's opposition into concentration camps, quite happy to carry on the same as others will keep on losing lives on their behalf.

In my eyes, its America who are the self made world police. Nobody sticks their noses in half as many other peoples pies as they do. Granted, where one nation goes, the other is probable to follow.

My Grandad was RAF posted around England and Singapore. He used to tell me how he couldnt wait to get out again. Do you think it possible that the Brittish public have that mindset in general?

Just wondering if expectations are becoming reality. If that makes sense.

im sure israel is quite cabable of handeling iran issue. anyways, if IDF go for it, im sure most of the western culture countires are with them "in spirit atleast"

This is true, but the problem with this is not that they do it (after all, if they didnt then someone would), its that they are not especially good at it. To be an effective dominant power what you need is an attractive culture, a strong military, a realistic foriegn policy, and the will to use force of all kinds effectively. Take our empire for example - whilst there were almost continual conflicts whilst it was in existence, aspects of British culture did spread almost everywhere and did (and do) result in benefits for us.

What the yanks have is a commercial appeal (rather than a cultural one - and what attraction people do feel for the yanks usually means that person wants to move to America), a strong military, a foriegn policy which - in the ME at least - is in fact a proxy for another country, and a reluctance to use what force they do have effectively.
