Always tbought about getting into the world of graphic novels. Recently downloaded the Scribd app for a trial and was enjoying Invincible until i realised they miss one volume and stopped and started reading one called Saga which is really enjoyable.

previously only read the classic Maus and a couple volumes of Sandman which ive always meant to get back to and finish.

Anyways, i dip in and out of the long running GOT book club thread here but was surprised to see there doesnt ever seem to have been a thread for this stuff.

So im sure theres fans and experts amongst us and lots like me who dont know much but wouldnt mind hearing some recommendations

Oh and not just on titles but also on how the hell to get what you want on a tablet....so many apps its hard to know. (Be nice to think id buy physical copies but itll never happen altho every now and then i search to see how much id have to pay to get the complete Peanuts....too much is the answer)

The Boys
Spawn
Anything by Neil Gaiman

I randomly just saw an ad now for a comic humble bundle, including some volumes of Spawn. Think it was all Image published stuff. Didn’t know you could get non-game offers. There was a transformers bundle too. I wouldn’t have a clue if any were good quality

I’ll defo check The Boys as the show is brilliant fun and I’ve always been a Neil Gaiman fan. American Gods is one of my favourite books, thought the show was dull tho

Do you buy physical or is there an app you use?

Not a genre I’m familiar with but I loved this one:

Ha. When I was searching to see if somebody had done a thread before on this, your previous post from years back in the book thread with this was one of the very few that mentioned graphic novels that came up. So I’d already noted it to check out :)

Both. I buy physicaly for the bigger things, use ComiXology for the general comic issues.

If you've seen The Boys then watch The Boys you will likely be disappointed at how tame the series is compared to it.

For Neil Gaiman you've got to do this series: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sandman_(comic_book) which also has a TV series rendition out this year.

Yeah the first two volumes of Sandman were the only graphic novels I’ve ever owned. I’m sure they are still somewhere back at home with the boxes of books I left behind. I reckon I might try get the complete set if I find them

Unfortunately Comixology doesn’t seem to be available in Spain. I’d like to know where to easily access this long list I’m going to end up with. It doesn’t seem straight forward which is surprising given the popularity of graphic novels

Amazon own, I think, ComiXology so maybe somehow digitally through there? I used to get them onto a Google Nexus tablet. I have a Kindle but it’s b&w so naff. I order my hard copies off Amazon or buy in house from a comics shop if I’m ever in a city.

Punisher yes!!! I bought a load of those plus Judge Dredd and 2000 AD comics when I was young. Still got them all somewhere..
nice...wonder if they're worth owt. me mam reckons she has my punisher comics in the attic somewhere. i had around the first 40, UK edition.

really curious to check if they're still a good read. reading action-packed comics when 40-something is probably a different experience than when 11 years old lol

The graphic novel, Thirty Days of Night is a cracker.

The film of the graphic novel isn`t too shabbly either.

Peak 2000AD takes some beating.

I`m still amazed, that out all the material available from 2000AD, that they`ve only ever done two Dredd films.

There`s so still so much there that they could make films from - Vampires of the Eastern Front, Strontonium Dog being the two that immediately spring to mind.
