Scouse

Player Valuation: £2.5m
Are there any budding amateur golfers on here?
If so, let us know your favourite courses, your handicap and maybe some of your golfing anecdotes.
Or even if you can't stand the game tell us why, failing that, go and knock a 'cheese on' up...

Plays better than me.

Ye currently addicted to the stupid game, full of false dawns when you think you have cracked it, closely followed by crashing back down to earth! H/C is 5, hope to get down to scratch, been playing 3 years but feel next jumps a big one. What about you @Scouse?

I don't play, but my arl man plays about three times a week. He's a member of two clubs. He tried to get me into it a few years ago and failed miserably.

I turned up at the golf course in a pair of jeans, t shirt and trainees, only to be told that I couldn't go onto the course dressed like that. That was the end of me and golf.

I fail to see why it's a prerequisite to dress up like a bellend to play golf.

Plus I run around a municipal golf course most weeks and regularly have run ins with golfers who object to the presence of someone running around the perimeter of the golf course. The women golfers are the worse for some reason. They seem to think they are playing at the Belfry, rather than a pay as you go municipal course.

It would appear that golfing attracts a fair amount of weapons for some reason ?.

I've also noticed that in Liverpool it tends to be a predominantly " white " persons thing too ?.

It's massive jump now, I play off 6 and have done for years. Unless you practice like mad or a proper naturally talented 5 or 6 is about as good as it gets.

I'm a member of Southport and Ainsdale but don't really play much now, I've played about 6 times this year.

I did play yesterday though and played well so have got the bug back.

Think thats pretty universally true.

Played a lot when I was younger as there is a load of top class courses within about an hour of me. Hard to find the time now as work quite a few weekends. TBF I think I enjoyed the social aspect of playing with your mates rather than the golf but I was single figures handicap when I played regularly. My own arl fella played off scratch.

Top course I can only dream of playing somewhere like that I'd be out all the time! I'm from Southport originally my old man was a member at Hesketh then Formby Hall. I'm near Leeds now but made the trip last summer to play Formby Hall and the Par 3 course there. Think lessons is next step for me, not had one yet but don't think il get much better now unless I do.

Grew up right next to a golf course so played most days till i moved out of home at 19. Only played very occasionally since then over the last 15 years unfortunately but once my son is old enough to start playing i plan on buying myself a new set of clubs and getting back into it.

The lowest i got my handicap down to was 12 but i was too erratic off the tee to get any lower. Got a competition hole in one at least which is about the highlight of my sporting career lol

Been playing for 12 years to around about an 8 handicap which for me is not bad considering I can't see where the ball is going. I literally lose sight of the ball after about 50 yards so have to be told where my ball has ended up. It can be quite frustrating at times, I have had 2 holes in one and had 4 holed out second shots on par 4's and haven't seen one go in which sort of dampens the excitement.

I started playing when I was 11 up until my mid twenties.
Then my clubs got pinched out the boot of my car about 10 years ago, just after that my daughter came along and golf got put on the back burner. Just recently started playing again and I love it more than ever before.

i was alright at getting to the green, not far off par...it was on the green it all went wrong, usually needing 5 or 6 attempts before it finally sunk. After 9 holes called it a day, at something like 40 over par lol enjoyed myself tho'.
