The Cheltenham thread was pretty good - keep it going.

Anyone going? I was going to go tomorrow, but got to head down to London with work.

Lash your picks up everyone!

Backed Buywise and Ballycasey as outsiders. Love going but can't make it this year. Always annoyed to miss out as I live round the corner!

I was looking at buywise the other day. My mate has lashed on a £10 free bet on splash of ginge (ginger missus like). Gutted am missing tomorrow though, love going the Thursday

Cheltenham form is the obvious place to start, normally very strong when transferred to Aintree. The only caveat this year is that the ground at Aintree looks like it might be a bit softer than Cheltenham was.

Planning on going tomorrow with some friends if the weather is decent enough. Don't mind it being overcast and few showers but not heavy rain.

Thursday is easily the best day though: good racing; lively enough but relaxed and not overcrowded and easy to get a beer.

For the National itself I've gone for Cause of Causes (backed at 20/1 but for come into 16/1 with some) and Sir des Champs because of his weight.

Will probably put a few more £5 E/W on the day as well.

Gutted am not going, Thursday is normally the better day to go down.

Saturday has an amazing aura to it, but it is WAY too busy for my liking. Long queues for the bookies, the bar and the toilets. It's not for me!

No offence to those who enjoy the Friday at Aintee, but it's again fairly crowded yet with poor racing and far too many drunken louts and ladies.

Been about 4 times on the Saturday, just because i wanted to be there for the national but didn't enjoy it because of the crowd, its just sardine city.

Friday is neither here or there, get in the right stand and you have a good day as its easier to get served - wrong stand and its a living hell.

How many horses will be slaughtered this weekend then?

....I expect some will but it's something all race goers hate to see and it has a devastating impact on those close to the animals. It's a dangerous sport for jockey and horse, fingers crossed everybody comes home safe and sound.
