Either way, it's pretty bad form to retire 3 games into a series. Surely you see things through don't you?

My initial thoughts were similar but if you look at it another way, his form was on the point of warranting dropping him any way. Add to that that the series is lost and perhaps its best to start rebuilding as soon as. Prior and KP have probably been saved by this, as with Trott already gone, their experience will count above their abysmal form.

As for the bowling attack, I suspect they'll go for Monty for now. The selectors ballsed up from the off imo. Not enough variation in the squad. Tremlett and Rankin look like a waste of a squad place, Finn isn't picked because of concerns over how expensive he is whilst everyone else is getting smacked round the ground. At least the lad bowls wicket taking deliveries now and again. Onions is sat at home watching it all on the telly. Obviously, the batting has put the bowlers in an impossible position but there's no plan b for the attack and that's down to the selectors.

I realise that, but he got to that spot after tearing Bangladesh and the 'honest' Pakistan sides apart in 2010.
I'm not saying he wasn't good, but worlds best ?
