What is his role? Roberto's yes man? If Roberto can't see the need for a specialist defensive coach surely he should be elbowing him in the ribs.Graeme was a lower division striker,so doubt he can have any useful input.

Odd that the late lamented Mr Round came in for no end of stick when things went wrong, but Graeme seems to fly under the forum radar.

That's Wrexham legend Dennis Lawrence's job if I'm not mistaken.

Jones is a nice fella and is meant to be very tactically astute.

....I just don't get this specialist defensive coach thing. What you do with the ball and without it are all part of a single co-ordinated strategy that are the responsibility of the Manager. If you have a defensive coach it would be to work on set pieces but our failings are down to overall tactics.

I sit near to the dugout and it looked like it was Jones decision to make the first sub. Martinez was just standing staring out at the pitch!

Defensive coach, schmefensive coach.

Load of unnecessary arl sh1te. Same as striker/keeper coaches.

It's the manager's job, and shouldn't be delegated to anyone but his first-team coach. If they're incapable, or think they need help, then they ain't fit for the job.

I was thinking more about the drilling a team needs when a man down and 2-0 up with 15 minutes to go.I'm sure a stats expert will prove me wrong, but there have been several games WBA would have won from positions we have lost or drawn this season. Not that I'm putting forwards a case for a Pullis type manager or thinking for a moment that WBA could have put themselves in that position in the first place.

...that drilling should be part of regular attack v defence training sessions. Standard stuff but done repetitively until everybody is virtually brainwashed into knowing what to do.
