After that Derby watch it nullified my gout pain - the tablets the G0 gave me - peeing for the UK pain easing a bit;)
The Derby performance still agonisingly on my mind!
The tablets they give you to nullify the pain should just be an anti inflammatory to take the swelling down. Once that goes after a couple of weeks they should start you on Allopurinol, you have to wait a couple of weeks after the episode just to ensure it has gone, otherwise starting the Allopurinol too early can actually prolong the episode and increase the pain.
I've been on 300mg of Allopurinol every day for about 5 years, body produces too much puric acid for some reason and cant get rid of it, as i'm sure you now know this causes the acid to crystalise and attack the joints, the Allopurinol just reduces the levels of puric acid you produce.
Mine tends to attack the feet around the metatarsal on the outside of the foot, excrutiating, unlike any pain I've ever encountered before and like someone already mentioned I can't even take a sheet on my foot. Last episode had me out of work for 3 weeks.

Like others, I had run in with gout a few years back. Blood results confirmed to much uric acid in my blood. Rather than take alluprinol, I packed in the ale and ate healthier and it hasn't come back. I got mine in my big toes. The pain though. It is a pain I've never experienced before or since. It is excruciating, white hot. The best way I can describe it would be like putting your foot in fire and leaving it there.

Easing away now 2 tablets left to take today had my bloods done early am to see what effect it's had on my deseased kidneys it takes a while for the gout to recede painful out of the blue never had it before , don't want it again!

Both the onset and subsequent disappearance of the symptoms never ceased to amaze me. Could go to bed for the 5th or 6th night in a row in complete and exquisite agony and next morning be giving it the Fred Astaires around the bedroom
