I had the same problem mate, and a service engineer glued some sawdust to the roof, and a trail leading to where I dock it inside the car and it works a treat now.

I bought some fancy iPod docks for $waytoomuch$ a few years ago and they sat in the box, unopened, for months before I found the solution.

The solution was an aftermarket radio with bluetooth streaming.
