A council inspection of a chip shop possibly linked to an E.coli outbreak found poor hygiene conditions and major non-compliance with food legislation.Wrexham council gave the Llay Fish Bar its lowest possible star rating of zero stars in an inspection a year ago.
Meanwhile, environmental health inspectors said they found a shortage of cleaning materials only last week.
Karen Morrisroe-Clutton, 32, and a three-year-old girl remain "seriously ill" in hospital with E.coli.

The Fishmonger in Parnell has a lovely selection of freshly cooked fish and chips, gourmet salads and delicatessen treats on offer.

This little beauty is a popular place and offers burgers as well as fish and chips and other takeaway goodies, so you’ll find something for the whole family.


Newton Fish & Chippery
A source tells us that this shop in Grey Lynn does excellent fish and chips. Your parcel is wrapped up and "pricked" to let the steam out - which makes them taste awesome.

kiwi fish and chips are different though, batter is different and they must use different spuds.

that said though you get tons of chips as a rule, and a choice of many types of fish in the good ones.
do they still do dollar scoops ?

First off, no fish for me. I tried some snapper here and it still hasn't changed my mind on seafood.

Thanks for all the links, I am resigned to the fact that I won't be able to get a decent chippy sausage or decent gravy. I have been to a couple of decent chip shops though since I have been here.

you could always head for a pie ?

have a bakerboys (i think ?) choc covered anzac biscuit for afters, they are huge, and at least yu can get a decent coffee over there.

Those pinwheel savouries (the little pies) were fantastic, very rich though and for folks that get heartburn.

"3 pinwheels please and a glass of Gaviscon"

they did have pasties as well, but the coirnish looking ones were vile and contained some sort of faggot with heart and lung tubes etc.
