No complaints here. Only been to Paris - six days worth over two trips - and can count on my thumbs the number of people who were actually rude. Simply trying to say a few phrases got me a smile at most places, and a few folks were downright friendly helpful.
Yeah, it was expensive - particularly the beer (which was "meh" at best to begin with) - but bread was awesome and cheap, as were gyros and crepes.
From my limited experience abroad, Italians were the warmest, friendliest people we encountered, and we found the locals in Munich to be the most absolutely helpful. It's like the Chamber of Commerce or Department of Tourism pays the locals to find tourists scratching their heads and immediately go out of their way to help the visitors. No complaints about the Frenchies, though, aside from the one woman working at the wine shop on Blvd Saint Michel...
