My nail on my big toe is hanging off. Held on by both bottom corners.

Do I just man up and pull it off? Or wait for correct medical care? Or just put it in rice?

In the Navy aren't you mate?
They will sort it out.

Although I've still got scars on my face from when I'd had a scrap ashore on the POMA stitched it.
He was absolutely sozzled too at the time.

I think the done thing is if you can cut most of it away, do that so it basically doesn't catch somewhere and rip out causing you more pain. Then wrap it up. The rest of the nail should fall off on its own accord as the new nail grows.

Try not to stub your toe or drop something on it while you don't have a nail. ;)

On my last deployment we had a lad with bad toothache. He needed a filling. We don’t have dentists on submarines so a POMA has to give him a filling. He gave it in the wrong tooth haha. Was brilliant.

FFS! Where's the not safe for work spoiler!!!!! :red: or at least not safe for dinner... :p

It depends how well the matrix is bedded, it could pop out easy but it could still be welded on and you could damage what will be where your new nail grows. Just cut half of the top and press it back down and bandage it if I were you. You can then take it to the doctor to get a medical opinion.

Shall I just pull it?

I won’t bother pulling them. Will keep it wrapped tonight and get someone who knows what they are doing sort it.

Cheers boss.

Can't help thinking that if you start pulling that then you'll tear a strip of skin off your toe, up the foot and up your shin!
