Skysports.com understands Newcastle are poised to sign former Everton youngster Dan Gosling in the next 24 hours.

As exclusively revealed by skysports.comat the start of July, Newcastle were lining up a shock move for Gosling following a contract wrangle at Everton.

Gosling and his representatives are on Tyneside to put the finishing touches to his move to St James' Park.

The England Under-21 international arrives at Newcastle on a four-year deal after leaving Everton on a free transfer earlier this summer.

The Premier League ruled earlier this month Gosling was free to leave Goodison Park after the former Plymouth youngster was not given a new contract offer in writing.

Everton claimed they offered Gosling a rise verbally, but nothing was sent to him by the due date and he was allowed to leave for nothing.

Gosling, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, is set to become Newcastle's second signing of the summer following the arrival of James Perch from Nottingham Forest.

That's been reported, but does anyone have any specific news about our appeal to the authorities? We're still waiting for a verdict there, seems like this piece of news is assuming that appeal is heading in the wrong direction... hmpf.

Who care's he's [Poor language removed].......

Money down the pan :(

I agree, if he's gonna be a first teamer for Newcastle, they're going straight down. But in a few years, he could be a decent player.

Never mind

He had crap floppy type hair. If you want to play for EFC you got to have boss hair. Take Fellaini for example.

Really? There is so much garbage playing in EPL teams midfields which makes Gosling look actually good. It's not a huge loss for us (not cashing on him is the most important aspect, as well as losing English player), but he is a decent player - good workrate, decent on the ball, knows how to score an important goals.
When he will overcome his injury he will very useful player for Newcastle, probably their best midfielder behind Guthrie and Jonas.

He's not good enough to be starting for a PL side.

That's just my opinion. Give him a few years, and he'll probably be alright though.

The little blert

Another money grabbing [Poor language removed] who probably has his head turned by his agent. I don't think he is as bad as people here make out although an injury like that could set him back a lot. Newcastle were the only team who said they would pay a transfer fee if we win our appeal so I think the deal is pretty much done.
