Goodison Tour - anyone done it? Worth it for out-of-towners?

Hi,

I was booked on a tour 3 yrs ago but it was cancelled the day before. Any other of my trips to Liverpool have been to the Old Lady to watch the mighty Blues in action.

Wherever I've lived in England it's been at least 2.5 hours away from Liverpool, so I won't have many chances to see the stadium tour as it's never on the day before a game.
Is it worth it? Seen the odd thing on youtube but want to know your experiences of it.

Cheers

I had one for my birthday a couple of years ago and quite enjoyed it to be honest. It probably won't blow you away but it's a nice history lesson, and the lady who leads the tour (if it's the same one) is extremely knowledgable.

You get to walk out of the tunnel to Z Cars too!

Done it twice and it was boss both times. I was very fortunate to have Dave Hickson as my guide. Last one was in late September, 2007, and I still have the certificate he autographed. Gonna frame it along with the match tickets one of these days.

...I took my kids when they were small and it was really good. Dave gave the tour which was terrific because I actually played for him when he did a spot of Management in the 70s. Bit or reminiscing with the man, a memorable day.

I enjoyed it. Great to walk up the tunnel to z-cars! You won't get on the pitch but still great to see the stadium from how a manager sees it!

Okay, that immediately makes it cooler than any stadium tour I've ever been on.

Did one during the 2006/2007 season. Dave Hickson (RIP) took us round, lovely fella. Couldn't think of any intelligent questions to ask him (compared to the others on the tour), so asked him "what's the deal with Li Tie?". His response was something along the lines of "dunno".

Been on it a couple of times both with Dave Hickson (RIP) 1ST time i payed for it the 2ND time was part of a deal for a book the wife bought for me. Not sure who leads the tour now but well worth a trip. Not sure if they do it on a sunday lunch time after a saturday game if so it might be worth staying up and making a weekend of it.
Don't forget ya camera and don't try to walk on the pitch! other than that do it and have some fun

My girlfriend took me only the week before last. It is good fun, the lady who takes you round is knowledgeable, but wrap up because they don't seem to have much in the way of heating on. You get a good look around, you're allowed to take pictures everywhere as well and as mentioned they play Z-Cars as you emerge from the tunnel.
On the morning we went there was a young disabled lady in a wheelchair and they were very accommodating of her - even though the place is tight and there isn't a great deal of room in certain places.
Worth the tenner, enjoy it mate!

When I am next over in the UK, I will definitely do it and take my lover along as she just doesn't understand the Everton thing at all. I hope to convert her!!

Went on it a couple of years ago. I'm not based in Liverpool so made a weekend of it, the game was on the Sunday so went on the tour on the Monday

The woman who did it I believe is the wife of the kit man, Jim Martin, who's been at the club for years. She's a true blue, will tell you stuff you never knew and let you take as many pics as you want. When you see behind the scenes at Goodison it really hammers home how old the ground is, the changing rooms, for example, belong at at lower league club. The boardroom was interesting with it's 70s decor, apparently Everton have won regular awards for their hospitality of visiting chairman and entourage which goes on in there. I think I'll go again at some point

I do have some pics I could post but don't want to ruin anyone's trip
