Watching the news on telly severely depresses me. I know bad shoite obviously is going on continually, but it sometimes feels like they want us to slit our wrists or be too scared to cross our own doorsteps. But nice things happen too
My wife is involved in a local community centre. Recently she told me someone handed in a wallet they'd found with 1,300 Euros. An old guy claimed it a few days later. He'd drawn it out the bank for his daughter coz she and her husband were out of work.
I know it's only a small example, but the story didn't appear in any local news medium. Whereas, if someone had stolen a wallet with that amount, it would have been in the local papers. This kind of thing, and the piece about Neville's daughter, warm the heart a little and restore a bit of faith in human nature. Surely you've got some 'good news' to tell us. There are acts of kindness, generosity and bravery happening all the time too. Might be something you've done yourself or that someone's done for you. Let's hear it. We need reminding that not everyone and everything is bad in this world.

I seriously doubt that I would have handed in that wallet myself, to be honest.

Someones been watching Russel Howard ;)

Not really a big deal, but there's a fruit and veg stall and a burger fan situated outside of the All Saints Campus Manchester Metropolitan University on Oxford Road. Provided me with all my vitamin C's last year which practically kept me alive, and the burger van kept me going at 10 in the morning when I'd been on the lash the night before. MMU wanted to close them both down, because they did not 'fit in with the asthetics of site', as they've just spent millions redeveloping it. About 2000 people joined a facebook group in protest, and the local council reversed the decision, meaning the two businesses are still intact and doing well. How riveting for you all, but I thought that was quite a nice story.

Good point mate, the media are now obsessed with all the terrible things happening. Keep people scared and paranoid ensures good ratings.

It's about time the hyperbole was pinned back and some balance was brought to the news. It's a beautiful planet we live on.

Lets hold hands and sing a song ffs.

Good news doesn't sell.

Unfortunate but true. Probably why I quit watching the local news years and years ago.
