Good European cities w/ clubs to go watch

Saw Munich smash Hamburger 5-0 at the Allianz. Worth the trip for superior beer and lederhosen clad beauties in the hofbrauhaus.

Valencia is great city for champions league paella. However I saw Levante in a 0-0 bore draw v Getafe.

Porto, for superbock and one of the best sandwiches ever, the Francesinha. Had one of them then went to see Porto.

We're heading to Paris on Thursday 21 September. I've just been looking at French league fixtures.
PSG v Marseille, Le Classique is on the Sunday night.
And I'm torn - it's PSG, it's Quatar, it's a manufactured rivalry, it's everything wrong with footy, it's ridiculously expensive, it's... the biggest game in French football and its on while we're there.

I went to Barca v Las Palmas a few years back, a bit of a sterile experience tbh. Messi and Suarez warmed up by strolling round the pitch chatting, pausing to ping a few balls at the crossbar from the halfway line. A 5-0 easy win, each goal greeted by a polite ripple of applause from a stadium full of fellow day trippers, most seemed more bothered about getting a selfie with the pitch as a backdrop than watching the game. More like being at a theatre than a football match. Spectacular stadium.

Real Madrid v Villareal. 0-0, crap game but a very angry home support made for a good atmosphere. Good ground.

Lazio v Juve. Juve were on their way to winning the title so the ground was full of their fans in the home stands, loads of fights breaking out with the stewards and police piling into the crowd. Jordan Lukaku was playing left back and I thought they were booing him after he made a strong challenge early on but they weren't boos, they were monkey noises. It was eery, the most uncomfortable feeling I've ever felt in a football stadium. Felt so sorry for the lad. Great stadium, awesome city.

done a few over the last couple of years. Roma vs Lazio, which was a great atmosphere. Stuttgart, espanyol, Hibs, Augsburg, Parma.
Spoke to an English lad at the Parma game. Had travelled on his own, and was doing a tour of the Italian clubs over a month or so. Not a bad way to spend a holiday!

Only game I've been to abroad was in the MLS.

New York Red Bulls 3 - 1 Orlando City, when Adrian Heath was Orlando manager. Kaka got sent off in the 98th minute, probably the most entertaining thing in the game. On the whole, I wouldn't recommend MLS as being the best league to go and watch a game - although there are better grounds to visit and clubs to go and see than NYRB (although I mainly wanted to watch Orlando!)

Seen Cologne mentioned a few times and it's a brilliant city and the scenery going south on the Rhine is quite picturesque. Was there earlier this year when their derby match versus Borussia Monchengladbach was on but was unable to make that due to tickets being sold out.

I've visited the Bernabeu, before it was refurbished, on a stadium tour too. Would be good to see a match there but it wouldn't be my first choice - I'd probably go for a German match.

Been to NYRB a couple of times. Once I saw the NY derby. There was quite a lot of aggro in the crowd between both sets of fans. Was quite amusing. A fight broke out not too far away from where we were sitting. NYC fans at one point started launching full beer cans onto the pitch. That part was less amusing as someone could've been badly hurt by that. But it was funny that there was so much animosity between the fans

I blame Elijah Woods being in Green Street.
