We are on the verge of the first Major of the year with the US Masters. I know lots on here love their golf and it’s always interesting to get the views of folk who are much more expert than me.

I enjoy having a little wager, especially after the cut when there’s lots of value around but I have had an early bet on Xander Shauffele (40-1 SkyBet paying 10 places) who played so well at last years Open.

Sky and Betfair going 10 places.
I Always get on a few outsiders early and hope for a run for my money.

Hoffman played very well over the weekend, and he plays Augusta well. Had a bit of 70/1.
Kuchar bang in form. 33/1.
Got DJ at 11/1.
Finau is lively outsider and England's Matt Fitzpatrick is a massive price.

I know lids like backing Speith and he's done me a few favours over the years, but his driving is absolutely shocking right now and his short game and boss putting is rescuing what could be some awful rounds. By shocking, I believe he was rated 213 out of 215 in accuracy last weekend.
Shame McDowell isn't in, as he's sorted his life out and is current playing great.

Good luck to anyone having a punt.

My colleagues think I'm odd for booking the whole long weekend off just to sit and watch it all too, but I just love the tournament.

Probably worth a couple of pounds to back Corey Conners. I mean he probably doesn't stand a chance, but after that crazy final round to win his first ever PGA tournament in Texas, I feel like the guy has some sort of mental toughness not often seen.

I mean to shoot a 6 under round that included four consecutive bogeys is just incredible.

I backed him to win that on Saturday in running.
Watched him go 4 clear last night and as you say he then looked like he'd totally bottled it.
Did you see his wife's face when he drained that long birdie in late on ?
Priceless.

Course expected to be quite soft, they've had a lot of rain apparently. A week for the big hitters if that's the case. McIlroy well suited.

Supposed to continue raining on and off this week. Don’t discount accurate iron players if the ball actually stops on the greens for once.

I did. She and the rest of his family rode quite a roller coaster. I can't say I recall seeing such a wild round of golf.

It was a life altering event for him.
