Golden chance missed for the future of football

Everyone bleats about diving. Everyone - the fans, managers, the FA, refs etc etc. Yesterday Clattenburg had the chance to strike the strongest blow against it when he should (100%) have sent off Suarez for his outrageous cheating dive. The RS would have then lost the game and with it their title chances. What a fantastic penalty against cheating that would have been. He failed. A copping out which he should surely be penalised for by sitting out the rest of the season.

Of course you'd have expected inaction on this incident from Steveie la's eating out companion.

Replays show contact which was mentioned on MOTD last night. Not enough for a foul but enough to make the ref think twice about a second yellow.

"For the future of football?" Up there with, will somebody think if the children!!

Not sure where you get that from.

'Crying & Shaking' was another one that I really didn't think was that funny/entertaining and actually showed that some of our lot really are only separated from that lot by a patch of grass.

Think about it though, if he had of sent off a player for diving in such a big game, he'd have attracted all sorts of attention to himself. Not many would want that, least of all a ref who has already had his fair share of attention down the years.

I don't get to watch many games besides ours, however, I watched Chelsea in their last CL game and I was impressed by the ref, although even he seemed to hold back on carding diving.
Imo it starts with the FA consistently implementing wider directives and ensuring the ref's are capable, even if they need to look abroad for their staff. Not much chance considering the FA being concerned about ManUre being outside the top four rather than relishing a competition lasting to the end of the season.
FA need to grow some and represent the game in and of it self.

You do realise how rediculous that makes you sound ?
My point was that replays suggest some contact, although still not clear. If you view the incident once in real time and remain unsure the safest thing to so is to not award a FK or show a yellow. I was just adding measure to the "end of the world" tone of the OP.
