Mexico loses 2-1 to Panama but hey they scored, PROGRESS.

Canada loses to Martinique 1-0. Canada proving once again they aren't just bottlers by losing to a team that doesn't exist according to FIFA. No Canada is the bottle.

Speaking of bottle, how does Canada get on compared to the USA in a game of real bottle like say, rugby? Or Ice Hockey?
 
It doesn't suck to see Mexico lose and Panama waste time by flopping on the ground after every quasi-tackle. Karma.
 
Martinique actually looked pretty lively. They certainly seemed to create 10x more chances than Canada.
I missed Mexico-Panama, but it makes me happy to see them implode after the last few years.

I feel for them as well.. they actually have some decent players eligible to play for them, but no one wants to play for Canada. Both Junior Hoilett and Jonathan De Guzman were born in Canada but both have declined proposals to play for the Canadian National Team. Shame!

Three groups of four teams. (US are in group C with Belize, Costa Rica and Cuba). Top two from each group qualify for the quarter finals along with two best-placed third place sides. Overall winner of tournament plays winner of 2015 tournament to determine entrant for Confederations Cup in 2017 (which I’m pretty sure is a made up number).

??? Why is this a thing ?!?

It's just like the Euro Cup or African cup of Nations. It's an international tournament for the North American region.
The Confederations Cup is comprised of the winners of all the regional tournaments (plus the world cup winner as well I think).
 
Pretty average performance overall against a weak team, even if we brought a B- squad.

Parkhurst is too defensive. Beckerman passes too negative. Torres looked average. Mixx makes too many poor decisions. Shea looked disinterested.

Shea and Mixx have potential though.

On the bright side, Donovan and Holden looked sharp and we finished our chances.
 
Was there any point to that match?

Do you think if all High Schools funnelled their best athletes towards football (soccer) instead of hand egg you'd be quarter final drop outs like our fine English selves?
