Going travelling

How do you get that much time off? and how much is ur budget for that, including flights?

Will be quitting my job to go, budget is around £7000 not including flights, which will probably cost around £1200 with STA.

I figure at my age this is probably the last chance i'll get to do serious travelling before i get into career mode.

Good luck mate, you will absolutely love it. 6 weeks in these parts might be pushing it, you'll do the touristy stuff in that time though no problems.

sefton sounds amazing

had a mate who back-packed across southport (amazing beaches apparently),

then onto crosby and up into the Bootle salt flats

haven't heard anything from him since he got to Marsh Lane

Oh, the times I spent in Sefton (Park) when I was a kid. The walk down Smithdown Road and Hartington Road to the park and the hours we spent there.

Think I'm kiddin don't ya? Well, am not. In fact, I'm going to retrace those steps next year, all being well.

I haven't done it for over fifty years but I will still know me way.

Not much use to you, Brennan, but do your research and pick somewhere cheap. I haven't been anywhere cheap in Asia and
Oz isn't, so I'd look at South America. Haven't spent any real time there - only got off a ship on the way through the Panama Canal years ago - but I've heard good reports recently.

Belgrade. I went inter railing last summer, taking in Prague, Krakow, Budapest, Belgrade and Zagreb. By far the best place was Belgrade. Followed by Zagreb (girls are just amazing)

I also hear good things about Sarajevo so making it part of my travels whilst Bosnia are playing in the World Cup.

Edit: I see this post is now completely useless to you.

Can highly recommend western Canada - British Columbia.

Buy a mini-van in BC, insure it, rip out the seats and put in matress in the back, drive it around Canada for a while (go to the Rockies, Whistler, Vancouver Island etc). Loads to do/see there.
Go into the USA, down the western states (spend time in the Sierra mountains), into Mexico, down as far as Panama Canal.

Sounds class Brennan lad. Personally I'd do less Asia more oz/nz but hey ho. Make sure you do Bolivian salt planes, machu pichu and ride with the grouchos while in SA.

ive done travelling for almost 10 years in my mid-20's to mid-30's. Brilliant idea too. I dont know if you are staying continental, but if going east, hit up Laos. Basically what thailand was 15 years ago. Or Burma now that the junta is gone. Hmmm...now i want to go to Burma..

If you are going Central/South America hit up costa rica(dominical) and/or Argentina. Argentina is fantastic.

Of course there are the known/easy places like Australia/NZ, but they are ace if you can afford it.
Agree with Argentina,also Uruguay...they don't all bite
