Giving notice

Started looking for a new job internally and externally recently. Accepted an internal move whilst still having interviews externally. Move date is 1st Nov.

Should I get one of the external jobs (which I'd take, cos the money is better), I could find myself in the job for a week, then handing my notice in.

Anyone ever been in such a situation? Gotta think about No 1, but I feel like a right git jibbing them off after just a few days.

Yes mate, I worked in a call centre, said I wanted to go out on the road as a sales rep, they strung me along for a while, made me work in telesales for a while then I pretty much asked for the sales rep job, no go. Handed my notice in, BOOM unemployed.

Went for a couple of jobs. Had an interview at a company in sales but then got offered a job in a recruitment agency with a view to running a new branch.

Did the induction for a week then got offered the sales job. Handed my notice in. 1 week of induction.

Felt bad but the sales job was what I was after, paid more and proved the first company wrong for not giving me a go in sales.

10 years later still doing well and on a lot more money now than I would have been had I got the original sales job (probably at least double).

its not too uncommon for a person to start in a new company and decide its not for them within a few days and leave...usually they wont even make you work any notice. If you are giving them a month then its all fair enough.
Managers and the like understand that you have to do whats best for you, they would do the same.

As soon as you have your new job position in place in writing with agreed terms of your new position ONLY then approach your present employer to orally give your notice followed by a written notice. they will either accept it in an adult manner or maybe offer to meet your new job conditions and salary!
Do not accept you have your new job verbally without paperwork following as it means nothing!
Good luck in the future

Been doing an apprenticeship myself, the people at work are really nice, proper family business and they made me feel dead welcome. But now I'm realising I want to go to uni so next Year I'll be handing in my notice too
