The Cowboy

Player Valuation: £60m
Started looking for a new job internally and externally recently. Accepted an internal move whilst still having interviews externally. Move date is 1st Nov.

Should I get one of the external jobs (which I'd take, cos the money is better), I could find myself in the job for a week, then handing my notice in.

Anyone ever been in such a situation? Gotta think about No 1, but I feel like a right git jibbing them off after just a few days.

care not 1 iota, think about how you'd be treated if the boot was on the other foot.

there are a great many jobs where folk are called in the office unexpectedly, given the news then escorted to collect their things then out of the door.

Just be honest with your current boss, tell him youve had an offer which is better money and you have to do whats right for yourself, just be straight with them

Damn straight, I've been through that twice - luckily I have avoided the cut both times but had to watch my colleagues be given their cards en masse. It was horrible.

Yeah, got final interview today for one of them, if I get that then there's a chance I could box it off before 1st Nov so I don't have to start this other role. I've made my concerns over the salary quite clear before accepting (no payrise internally) so he won't be too surprised I'd expect.

Er yes actually. I'm waiting on hearing from a preferred job in Abu Dhabi currently but have just been offered another position from one more local, I don't want to move to then leave again a few weeks later.. What to do.. Hmmmm

The external role. By quite a margin. I'm at a point where I need to consider career progression as well as the money, fortunately the external one wins on both counts.
Take it and enjoy the progression & money. I've just precisely that

Good luck
