Gig prices

Went to see Michael Jackson at Aintree years ago. They opened the gates and everyone just walked in. I didn’t see them take a ticket off anyone.

Tried to get my daughter a ticket to see Arctic Monkeys later this year, they sold out within seconds and are now going for hundreds. I’m hoping a lad I know can get me two for a reasonable price.

Can't believe the crazy prices people pay for gigs.

Back in my younger days when i went to gigs it was probably 90% of the time something like 3-5 quid.

Obviously depends what band you actually wanna see, they were gigs in back rooms of pubs but very occasionally i felt like i was really rolling the boat out by paying closer to 20 quid!

Just came up on my Facebook history, John Cale was a year today, anyone go to that? £50 i think it was, i got in all 4 days of Sound City for free working, so I was lucky in away, I would of been well gutted if i had paid all that just for the music to be getting blown out to the Mersey!!

Radiohead are the one of the worst culprits for this. Preach about green stuff and anti-capitalism and use the word Orwellian a lot and then charge fans abar 100 quid for a ticket.

Massive disappointment that John Cale gig. Human League/Art Of Noise/A Certain Ratio the previous evening was boss though - and worth every penny...

Insane prices these days. Was looking at Arcade Fire for the wife's birthday but it started at $60 for "seats" that is just basically access to a grass hill at the top of the ampitheatre, going up to 85 for a space that's actually yours with a seat.

Only like 10 years ago I was paying $60 for 3 days of Lollapalooza in Chicago.

There's bands on one of the tall ships this afternoon till 8.00, I'm going now as I assume it's free.

Took the missus to watch Ed Sheeran (Present from last Xmas - not my thing at all!) at the Etihad - £75 a ticket and £6 for a little bottle of warm Heineken.

Last gig I seen before that was a couple of months ago in some boozer in Earlestown. Cheap ale, no ticket charge and 3 bands. I know what I prefer.

It's like going the match, not just the ticket price.

Travel, food, drink, merchandise, take the kid's, you are looking at a couple of hundred quid, and upwards.
