Read somewhere that Roberto was looking to sign a replacement for Gibbo for this season. Who would suspect is available and you would like to sign? I still rate Michael Essien...

If it's a loan, the rules state it mustn't be from England. A loan from abroad, possibly that Barcelona lad? Dos Santos or something?

In that fan interview that's knocking about, he said Gibbo's making better than expected recovery and may be back by April, so replacing him isn't as high a priority as originally planned. Or words to that effect.

There is a tenuous link to Yann M'Villa again today, it could be possible that we sign him on loan if he is unhappy at Rubin Kazan. He was linked before he went there and attended the Derby (in the away end) earlier in the season. He could "do a job" similar to Gibson.

Ive seen us linked to him recently but how can people be sure Martinez likes him, cos he can come across as a bit of a bad egg and gets in to bother and Martinez keeps saying he wants a specific type to come in and integrate with the squad and not disrupt the character of it.

Really good player mind but when we was linked to him properly last time, Moyesy wanted him.

Strange comment if that's what he's said. By April the need for a CM will have mostly gone anyway as you've got about 7 league matches left, and at that point it's likely you'll know whether CL football is a possibility.

We absolutely must get a CM of some sort in January, either an out and out orthodox CM or an attacking midfielder so that Ross can sit further back if needs be.

A good Gibson replacement is Ibanez. May not cost anywhere near as much, but will do the job. Resale value is nowhere near the Gibson level though.

Another winger/attacking mid would lessen the need for cm cover IMO. I think Barkley can do a good job there, and Osmsn certainly isn't as useless as some people make out. He cost us vs sunderland but it was a very uncharacteristic error.
