Whoever we face in the last eight this year it will be chance to exorcise some f.a cup demons from this great clubs past.

In my lifetime I can remember 11 f.a cup quarter final appearances for my beloved blues going right back to the man city replay in '81 ,unlike the aforementioned tie - most we thankfully won, but two to me stick out as real heart-breakers and strangely enough both were against our potential quarter-finalists this campaign. :-

Middlesborough away - 10-03-02
- Wallys last stand - I remember watching it on live on BBC1 with big hopes of walter smiths tenure finally bearing fruit ,but how wrong I was quite possibly the most limp capitulation in evertons recent history to very ordinary boro side - ending 3-0 and ending Wallys very mediocre reign......What a missed chance!

West Ham away - 11-03-91
- After the euphoria of the epic 4-4 and Dave Watsons decisive goal in the 5th round epics against the Sh*te Everton were strongly fancied against second division west ham. The game I remember was switched to a monday night (to accommodate our newly found saviours of football -sky). Then up stepped young starlet - Stuart Slater to do the only thing he ever really did (as it turned out) and dump us out 2-1. I can still remember the kopites the next day taking the pis* - revenge for all the stick I'd given them after King Kenny had done one a few weeks before. Even more gauling was the fact the hammers got mauled 4-0 in the semis by forest......What a missed chance!

So there if any Everton players do frequent this forum take heed in this history lesson - which proves no matter what has gone before -there is no such thing as a sure thing , and save me from contemplating the unthinkable again........

- What a missed chance!!

COYBB!!!
