Has anyone been to either recently and how did you get tickets ? I'm looking on doing a bundesliga game after Christmas and want to do one of these and maybe stay in cologne or dusseldorf as they are better cities

Wanted to watch German footy for a long time but always been put off with their big attendances and having to worry about getting a ticket. Long way to go to stand outside.

I know Schalke have a massive following. They sometimes show the away games in their home stadium on big screens and sell tickets to that.

Just watch out for the online touts as often they'll take your money and then 'try' to get you a ticket...

Good luck mate and report back.

i been to see hertha berlin about 5 years ago when they were in the bundesliga 1,they were playing wolfsburg, cracking game, very handy to get tickets if your in the city of your choice a few days in advance,in berlin they have these shops that sell tickets to everything that is going on in the city (zoo, shows, plays, matches, museams) also i was there at the end of last season when hertha were in a playoff for relugation and seen tickets for sale in a tobacco shop!

You could try to get tickets via the opposing club, when they play teams with
low support
like Leverkusen, Mainz Freiburg, Fürth, Augsburg
or very low
Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg
Tell them a story that they are your favourite club in Germany and try to order there.
Maybe contact the clubs directly via mail or phone.
We don't like ViaNogo
This is the bundesliga homepage:

See, Bundesliga matches are not exatctly fix yet for the next year

Looking to visit Dortmund in the New Year for a game myself.

Heard someone on here say they emailed somebody like Bayern Munich once asking to apply for tickets and in true German fashion they sorted the whole thing within minutes...maybe you could send the clubs an email?

I went to a Dortmund cup game in like 1996 and it was easy to get a ticket but that was a long time ago and it was basically a practice match. Was good though.

Ive been to all bar 2 of the top flight grounds there (and doing those (Dusseldorf and Wolfsburg) in November), and on every single occasion I've e-mailed their offices and explained I was flying over for a weekend of "groundhopping" (very popular over in Deutschland).

The only time I had a problem was when 4 of us were wanting to go to the big Dortmund-Schalke derby; the club could only give us 2 tickets, but we got the other 2 from one of the ticketing sales sites and split the overall totals between the 4 of us.

Every time, I had a ticket and usually within about 24 hours of the original e-mail being sent.

Just go onto their official website, find the e-mail address and give it a go.

Wolfsburg is not a city to stay over night, but have a look on their history (google).
Was founded in 1938 just for the VW, Volkswagen factory. Maybe you can do a visit there.
The Stadium is like Cardiff City or Coventry or so.

Yeah, I'm not bothering staying over in Wolfsburg next month. I'm booked on a train straight back to Dortmund for the night.
