Getting around Liverpool

Morning Blues,

I will be making my second trip to Liverpool in a few weeks (first time I was escorted by a local) however this time I will be on my own.

The wife and I are heading over to Germany from Australia to see her family and I have decided to nip over the pond to catch a game (QPR)

I will be staying with friends in Weaverham on the Saturday and Sunday and will be making the trip into Liverpool on the Monday.

I will then be leaving to Manchester airport on the Tuesday and will need to get myself to the Coach Terminal to bus it over.

Seems if I am training it in I would be best jumping off at Lime St?

I am looking for suggestions hotel suggestions on a central location easily enough for me to get to and from the game and also to the Coach Terminal on Fraser St (near the Museum). Don't mind staying above a pub or wherever... (would also like to have a few ales before the game too)

From what I can gather somewhere like the "Throstles nest hotel" seems like it would be a 20 - 25 minute walk to both?

I see there are also shuttle buses running but with my limited knowledge I can see apparently they only run from Sandhills Train Station?

Any tips from locals to make my trip in and around town as easy as possible would be greatly appreciated

Only stay in the City centre mate. A bus or taxi to the ground is cheap so don't worry about that.

There's a lovely hotel in the city centre called The Lisbon.

Days Inn is a nice spot mate, just a short walk from city centre.

Depends on your budget, check tripadvisor for hotel reviews locations etc.

I love The Liner hotel myself. Ideally situated next to Lime Street . Merseyrail to Kirkdale (5-10 min walk to Goodison from there).

Premier Inn, just off Dale St. (Vernon St.) will be a good location for you.

Not too far from the coach station and a couple decent pubs (Rigby's/Lady of Mann & Ship and Mitre, especially the latter if you like your ales & premium lagers), loads of taxis go down Dale St. so won't be stood more than a few minutes before hailing one.

Booked the Liner seems to be in a good spot and nautical.. not sure what thats about haha

sure I will find a pub close by for the afternoon! ... suggestions ?
