Germany v England

Alli is a good player, but for England without Eriksson and dembele, you are basically looking at Gerrard without Alonso and mascherano, if Southgate really wants to progress he should build the team round Ross, keep alli of course, the kids got goals in him, but Ross is the one who could alter how they play, utter myth that hes a risk as well, I mean come on, Livermore ffs
The best England has played was in the second half of that Germany friendly last year when Ross Alli Kane and Vardy where all on. Of course they haven't tried that again a single time since but it really is a good mix of different styles of effective attacking players

I love the optimism that surrounds England at this stage of the qualifying competitions. Prior to the Euros they beat Germany and went through the qualifiers like a knife through butter and then they flopped. This time they get beaten by half a German team and yesterday looked very ordinary against a team from outside the world's top 100 and guess what, there are reasons for optimism.
I don't know why England fans do it to themselves, England are a good side they are comfortably somewhere between 10 and 20 in the world, with a good directory can make quarter finals in the World Cup or even semi final in Euros.
After all these years of no success it is time for a bit of realism, should get into last 16 in the World Cup, maybe even quarters, that is success for England.

tbf mate, England fans know that we are not a great team, but the press think they are.

You are probably right on that one, I am a Northern Ireland fan we feel great when we win a game. We don't turn on the manager or players when we lose, we are a realistic bunch. A country with only 1.6 million to pick from and that is counting Derry, we have to accept that we cannot expect to produce 11 very good players at the same time.
England football would be a much happier place if the press took a realistic view of where they are in terms of world football and not make unrealistic demands on the players who are doing their best.
If England get to the last 16 in the World Cup that is them getting to where they should be, if they make the quarters that is success, anything better is really punching above their weight.
