Wondering how people think our deal for Gerry and Villas one for Traore stack up?

We signed 21-year-old Del Boy on a three-year-contract – with the option of a further year – in a deal worth £4.2m.
The contract includes a release clause if Barcelona make an offer to Everton meeting certain requirements. FC Barcelona also have a right of first refusal if Everton decide to sell the player. Everton said the buy-back clause only applied during the first two years.

Aston Villa signed winger Adama Traore from Barcelona on a five-year deal. worth £7.1m but could rise to £8.6m if certain conditions are met.
Barca have also inserted a three-year buy-back clause in the 19-year-old's contract at Villa Park.

Deulofeu apparently rejected other offers to sign for us, so it could be that Martinez was able to get a favourable deal.

Comparing the two as players is difficult though Barca i assume rated Deulofeu higher at the same age because they elected to loan him for 2 seasons rather than selling him.

Looking at our wingers, Mirallas and Deulofeu are the only starters for me,McGeady is awful and Pienaar on his last legs.

It appears that Martinez wasnt even in for Adama (despite media links) as i'd imagine that we could have bought him for a lower fee than Villa but with a lower buy back clause...just a guess based on his dealings with them on Deulofeu and possible future deals.

Adama is rapid and i think could have been a good option on RW to compete with Deulofeu.

Don't know much about traore but heard he really good and also more of a hard worker and team player then our del

whatever way you look at it Delboy is a bargain at £4.2 mill, all be it bought for potential. A creative 21 year old with 1 full cap. The nearest English player I can think if is Nathan Redmond, a similar age and potential but I doubt if Norwich would sell for anything less than £10 mill.

Agreed. Also 3 years with extra year option is lower risk.
