Yeah apparently that was Dennis Law.

But I always put that down to my dad being a Jock.

He's got a point mate - a load of arlarse mates of me dad's say the same.

Denis is the (Non-Everton, English league) player I regret not seeing play live the most; mainly based on their commendations of him.

Best player I've seen in my lifetime is Gheorge Hagi....And the one I wish we'd had the most, too....And I only ever seen him on the telly.

I tells ya, if Hagi'd been South American, or had played PL football - There wouldn't even have been a 'Who's the best George?' discussion.

Yeah Hagi was a great player, like you say if he'd have been from a different part of the world he would have been viewed more favourably.

Gullit was my favourite from that era though no matter what position he played in he could control everything about the game it seemed.

Yeah gullit was alright, like - would've been better if he'd been a George though.

Hagi was ace... but he was no Scifo, Stoickovic or stoichkov

There's a true story that one night an 'unknown' guitarist wanted to jam on stage with Clapton, they sort of condescendingly let him have his 15 mins of fame.
Off he went doing his thing
After 5 mins Clapton threw his arms in the air in a wtf can you do gesture, walked off and left him to it.

Hendrix / Best

one off demon possessed absolute 'kin genius.

George was brilliant. I remember the old chant from the St.End. "Georgies wearing hot pants"

The Autopsy documentary last week about him was really sad. What a waste. RIP

The vast majority of people would have seen Best play no more than a dozen times at most bearing in mind that for the first part of his career, Match of the Day meant precisely that: one match. The media were obsessed with the 'football Beatle' and with MUFC in general following Munich, and his reputation benefited from this obsession.

From the little I saw, he was very good indeed, though I feared Law more when they played us. Pointless making comparisons because we don't have much evidence to base it on.

George Best: Greatest NASL Goal Ever

" In total Best made 470 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions from 1963 to 1974, and scored 179 goals. Over the next decade he went into an increasingly rapid decline, drifting between several clubs, including spells in South Africa, Ireland, the United States, Scotland, and Australia". Some going to play 470 times for Manu and score 179 goals i.e about 1 in 2.5 games for a winger.

ECCC-1965/1966 SL Benfica - Manchester United 1-5 (09.03.1966)

I remember watching Northern Ireland play Scotland at Windsor Park on a bog of a pitch and Best was sensational. An absolutely brilliant world class footballer.
