George Best died 10 years ago today.
Far and away my favourite non Everton player out of all those that I have seen play live.
(Keeping an eye on Deulofeu though. Still time yet Gerard lad)

Fantastic player with a flawed but endearing character. When asked later in life where had all his money gone, Best said the he'd spent it on wine, women and song and the rest he had squandered!

Excellent player when he was motivated

Even when he wasn't, he was still better than most!

Always amuses me that he had a few games for Hibs and Stockport County amongst the glut of clubs he turned out for

The fella was a bona fide genius...can't get enough of him...despite his off field carrying on. That was between him and his demons...but football WOW

.....presume he is comparing the two as footballers. After watching both over the years my own opinion is that Best was more than one level superior. Saying that, whilst Best was a fantastic player I'm not one of those who view him as 'the best of his time'.

I went to the away game in 1967 which we lost 3-1 Best ripped us apart,and because of some crowd "disturbance" after the game our coach was delayed and Bests E type filtered into traffic next to the coach.I had to admire the smile he kept on his face given the abuse he suffered in the couple of minutes before the traffic moved.

Incredible talent and a once in a generation type of player. A player who got in from a night on the piss, then went out and took the piss, before going back out on the piss.
