Gearbox problems?

Right lads, while I'm not having gearbox problems, I DO need a decent scrap yard recommendation for a couple of cosmetic parts for a mk2 Ford Focus in the Merseyside area.

My uncle told me about Bold Street Auto Breakers in Widnes, but does any one have any other places? I need a offside wing mirror backing and a chrome Ghia grill surround (remember the fella that did a hit and run job on me a few months ago)?

Are Spekeland Road and Pighue Lane scrappies still there?

Have asked on a car website but they are crap so will ask on here...

Whats the score when it becomes difficult to change gears? This morning it was a much bigger effort to put the car into any gear - almost as if I have to grind the gears a bit

Now, as a2bchris and chico will agree - good arl frogger isn't the best of cars but its served me well and it would be a sad day the day it goes so treat this thread with the respect it deserves. A good friend is in a bad way here....

sounds like clutch.

you mention fluid, if it's a hydraulic operated clutch via a little piston ( similar to the rear brakes assuming a bit of prior knowledge here ) could just be seals need doing up, which is ok if it is easily accesible and you know what you are doing you then get the seals out then get the correct ones ( I find you cant beat going with the actual old one as a sample 2 of these mate and they won't have them being french, but we can get them in for you )

So long story short unless you are tim the tool man or seriously skint, put it in to get done.... I used to do all that shte coz I could ( as well as being skint )

No more, can't be ar*ed, pay up short term pain long term gain.

could also just be worn plates

This is a very detailed reply. But I think Mr GOT's original post was like 5 years ago mate.

Good info though.

Cheers lads. Its a punto.

Couldn't do it myself woody. I am useless. A bloke who runs a garage from his home said he would take a look at it on Tuesday for free and let me know, seemed sound enough. Said if its a new clutch I am looking at around £165

Bloody hell thats generous, wish I knew a mechanic that would do a clutch for £165. I paid closer to £400 when my clutch went.
