germany (and most of the time norway, slovakia and switzerland) can't really field a competitive team so you really struggle to make a competitive tournament out of it.

The Germans and Swiss are usually fairly competitive. They're certainly not at the top but they play well. Slovakia???? They're one of the better nations in the world.

ah mate got them mixed up with slovenia again.

just wiki'd that the first European championship was won by Great Britain in 1910

;D xx

Did you know that Australia has per capita double the amount of 'registered' people playing ice hockey than the UK?

I play rec hockey and it is a bigger sport than many people realise, we're playing in a big Rec tournament in Sheffield in July.

Ice hockey is Britain's largest indoor spectator sport, and the only team sport to have a United Kingdom-wide league with at least one team from every nation.

league attendances alone were approaching 500,000 in the season just finished, with average crowds above 2,000 overall, and more than 4,000 in Nottingham. That overall average is bigger than Conference (BlueSquare Premier) football in England, above any domestic rugby union league below Guinness Premiership level, and on a day-to-day or monthly basis, is bigger than the number of people paying to watch County Championship cricket.

current score after 10mins 1-1. latvia just bigger and faster than us. we are in big trouble they all play in the nhl we dont.

You a big NHL/ahl follower??

yes since 2001. Big fan of Oilers but we have been rebuilding the last few years hopefully for a serious push for the cup. I still think the oilers should have won against carolina years back had it not been for injuries. I like watching the play-offs generally and seeing the rivalry build up game by game and sometimes after game 6-7 you can see genuine hatred or perhaps its a will just not to lose to these guys. I guess the rivalry with dallas-edmonton was one of the reasons i started supporting the oilers as they always had bad breaks at really bad times.

I was happy that i backed the kings to win the cup. i saw them the year before and knew they were ready despite the seeding. west is a dogfight of a conference to win.

well we are losing 3-1 after 2 periods. probably be 5-1,6-1 getting killed on special teams.
