GB footy team for the Olympics

Welsh and Scots have rejected it - stating the English dont wash and they wont share a dressing room with scruffy tvvats.

Harsh like.

So who's lining up then?

Interesting news really, as just yesterday i read both the welsh and scottish FA's were angry over the idea, and that the "job" of playing footy at the olympics was conceded to the english FA a long time ago. Weird.

Anyway, what kind of formation could one line up with which is not all-english? I can't really think of many inclusions. Gareth Bale is obvious though, he'd actually be a really welcome addition to the left-wing problem area - where they've put Barry and Gerrard earlier, silly things, basically messed up Baines' world cup, that left midfield problem.

...

uh, wait, i just remembered that the Olympics thing is age-restricted! It's only for U23 players, if i'm not mistaken. Makes it more interesting. Aaron Ramsey is a candidate, at least.

Otherwise, i'm doing being bothered by this. Who cares about olympic footy anyway.

I'm actually excited about this. We will finally see how awful collectively they can be.

What a joke. Its like Canada hosting the Winter Olymipics yet not fielding a hockey team because a handful of French Canadians want to have their own country. I'm sure most players from Scotland, Wales, NI would love to play in an international match of some concequence. Its all about the FA suits who if they approve could mean that eventually there would be a 1-100 chance that the FAs would have to merge and they'd be out of their cushy jobs if the team accomplishes something. You'd actually have a decent little team and home field advantage. How much could it hurt to work together for a change.

It's very different mate to be honest.

Hahaha

It just wont work, because if the team is made of :
English, the expectation will be too much, the media will over-hype them, they'll lose and then all the deluded fans will kick off
Scottish, they'll lose to Iran or Puerto Rico and fail to get out of the group
Welsh, that fact that they're at a tournament at all will cause a tear in reality and the universe will implode

There was a GB team for 70 years, not sure what the issue here is, really.

No one is losing their autonomy, this is for just one U-23 tournament.

I'd rather we remain rubbish separately than be world beaters together, to be honest. The rivalry between the home nations are too important to lose.

So between Scotland, NI, Wales and throw Ireland in there too, to my knowledge you've only played Northern Ireland once in the past 4 years. How could it be a rivalry if you don't play any of them?
