Gay marriage

But a homosexual couple isn't destined to burn as long as they're good christians who don't engage in sex out of wedlock.

Those athiests are doomed, married or not, unless they convert. But the homosexual christians only sin if they get married, otherwise as long as they remain virginal they're home free.

The church shouldn't marry gay couples, end of. It's against everything they stand for.

(Disclaimer there are other religions who do approve of gays marrying and are currently not allowed to marry gays and that seems unreasonable but the COE and the catholic church and the church of islam have every right to their stance.)
Agree with all of that, personally I disagree with so much that the churches stand for. Gay marriage is really one of the last things I would care about. They could start by putting their obscene wealth to work for the benefit of the poor and needy of this world, maybe that would be a bit too 'Christian' though.

So I'm happy for things to remain as they are, to be honest.
The opinion of anyone who is in no way impacted by potential marriages isn't really important though is it?

Catholic priests take a vow of celibacy which means they can't marry. Sex outside marriage is a no no so it's taken for granted that they are also Chaste.
Works out so well for the Catholic priests.

Are gay couples not allowed to use the churches? Aren't the churches tax exempt? Don't they accept money from English Heritage? If so then not allowing taxpayers to use the buildings seems unjustifiable. You can't force the priest to do the ceremony of course but the building should be available because it's (in some part -- I know they get donations too) taxpayer supported.

Also they shouldn't be tax exempt but that's another argument.

Seriously, I am not so ugly that I will never get married, ffs. Some people find me very attractive, I'll have you know.

Civil ceremonies can be held in religious buildings though, albeit it's a very recent law change and it can't be a religious ceremony or use religious texts or symbols and churchs have the right to refuse permision. But it does happen.
