Just watching it now and it is heartbreaking at times .. he was my hero growing up so its very sad for me personally

what a player tho seriously

yeh just watching it now like ... was in bits when he told the story bout doing a pro-asthma thing in the papers telling kids they can play if they use there inhaler .. a kid played footy and died because he never took his inhaler out when he heard it hurt him very bad

he was in tears telling it must admit so was i

Where can I watch this?
It's on iTunes now to rent and buy. Assume it might be in the Sky Shop as well as it is on Virgin On Demand.

Thought it was good and some of it was very depressing. They don't really put much of a direct emphasis on his alcoholism although it is referred to throughout. Such a shame the way he has turned out but clearly he's had a very difficult time despite his footballing success.

I just watched it. Fantastic piece that.

He never seemed to have much of a problem when he could play, but during injuries and after his playing career ended... wow.

Ispiring player, good teammate, apparently, pig to be in a relationship with, apparently. Last bit gets forgotten. Awful beard the man now sports. Looks like Gary Glitter on the way to the cells.

I know not all people agree but I feel very sorry for the bloke. Alcoholism is such a misunderstood illness.

Most alcoholics drink not because they enjoy getting rat-arsed and falling over the place and embarrassing themselves, but because they have turmoil in their lives that they're struggling to cope with. Gascoigne has clearly had many problems over the years that he hasn't be able to put to bed.

Divorcing the mother of his kids, becoming estranged from his kids, not finding a replacement for the buzz playing football, feeling paranoid and humiliated by the press hacking his phone, not being able to find steady work. All of these things have contributed to him building a prison for himself inside his head that he feels trapped in. Obviously for him the only way he can escape the torture of thinking about all of his problems is having a drink, even if he can forget about his sadness for just a few hours he will do it.

He's recently signed up to twitter and it personally makes me smile whenever he tweets because it's a nice reassurance to know that he's feeling okay. He's engaging with people instead hiding away and when you're depressed even the smallest act of kindness, like reading nice tweet someone has sent you, can help cheer you up tremendously.

I hope one day he finally kicks alcohol for good and finds peace but people shouldn't be so quick to just discard him whenever he slips up. It's not his fault that whenever he has a bad time that it ends up on the front of the national papers for the entire country to see. How would any of us like it if in our dark moments there was paparazzi taking photos of us and then writing really hurtful and innacurate articles that millions of people will read and believe? He deserves a bit of dignity.

what a player tho seriously

Superb. I wonder how good he could have been with the right handling. By the time Walter Smith had him he was half crocked.

He went to Italy where the best defenders in the world went at the time. When he played they showed it on Channel 4. They couldn't get the ball off him

That parasite of a tart he married...........and her daughter - still using Gascoigne's name. The daughter was never even entitled to call herself Gascoigne. :dodgy:

The LEECH .......Kick her in the fannie, Gazza.

Anyways, 'Gazza' got a football career - as I've been saying in another thread, Billy Kenny didn't.

It's not an easy one alcoholism, it's a terrible illness which tears families apart, but sometimes it's difficult to know where the the illness ends and the persons selfishness begins.

Strange lad Gazza, remember when he pleaded for his mate Raoul Moat to come back to newcy?
