Gary Speed Dead

Am absolutely shocked here. Always thought he got the rough end concerning the end of his time with us, was glad to see him turning the Welsh team around. Don't know what was going on in his life that made him want to commit suicide, but my condolences go to the family left behind.

RIP Gary.

He was on football focus yesterday morning, talking the WC draw for Wales. He seemed alright, looking forward to the job, all the ''have Wales turned the corner?" questions answered. It just doesn't make any sense, I hope he wasn't suffering in silence with a long term mental illness, and hope even more that it wasn't a domestic issue that made him feel he had no where to turn. Only 42, two sons, distinguished career, medals, made the move to management seemlessly, a really terrible day - prayers and hopes out to his family in this most desperate of times.
So sad, rest in peace Gary Speed.

This hasn't sunk in yet. You'd think for a bloke who I never knew personally and whose only real attachment was that he played for the football team I support, I wouldn't be too distraught about it but this really has knocked me for six. Can't get my head around it.

Of course, thoughts are with his family and friends at what must be an unbelievably distressing time.

RIP Gary. Gentlemen. Legend.

An MBE, too...

Sickeningly sad...
