im the first to admit didnt like him as a player who did? but as a pundit he,s simply brillant to listen to his first full season with sky have to give him a 10 outta 10 what does everyone else think?

Agree with you 100%. As a pundit/commentator he's a legend, he's ten times better than most of the other pundits.

Great pundit. Surprisingly neutral, reasonably insightful and he passes the ITV test by not being incredibly annoying to listen to.

Good stuff.

Haha, I've don't think I've ever heard anything like the sound he made when Torres scored. That has to be one of my favourite pieces of commentary ever.

I thought he was an embarrassment last night: "This is somethin' more than football; this is...spiritual. Something is happening here tonight..."

He sounded like some Oldham-born evangelist. I half expected him to emerge with a couple of rattle snakes in a sack.

Bhave dave, it's something different. Right now I really like listening to him. Give it a few years thou.

I'm just saying last night he was embarrassing. He's usually ok, but last night all I heard was 'when we beat Bayern in 99' and ''it's all written in the stars...it's fate'.

Analysis went out the window. He made Andy Townsend sound like a tactical genius.
