Just an observation, especially considering how he ended up being England's main penalty taker later in his career, and famously scored two in the 1990 World Cup QF v Cameroon, and one in the SF shoot-out v Germany.

Look at how many goals our midfield contributed in 85/86 compared to 86/87. Scoring 40 was a great achievement, but playing to Linekers strengths weakened our team somewhat.
