Anyone want to post there memorys of Linekers fantastic year at goodison 85/86. Did anyone meet him? get his autograph outside bellefield? remember the goal he scored in front of the kop! Did the blues make a mistake selling him, and who was better gray or Lineker? Also what difference would it of made if we had done the double in 86 would he of stayed and been a goodison legend! He famously blamed losing his famous lucky boots prior to evertons defeat against oxford, which cost us the league.

This guy was my hero as a kid, when I was only just getting into football. I don't really know why I support Everton, but aside from the whole 'born, not manufactured' schtick it probably has a lot to do with his one season!

Anyway, he brought his kids down to the go-kart track where my bro works a couple weeks ago and he (brother) got his (Lineker's) autograph for me :).

He's better than Gray now :p

Yeah I was a young 8 year old growing up my family were all reds till I seen Lineker play in his famous no 8 jersey he turned me blue my family didnt like it, but in the end my mum would drop me outside goodison every other saturday to see Lineker. I bet im not the only blue who lineker influenced! Great player but he has forgotten his blue roots!

My lasting memory of Mr lineker is him scoring a hatrick against Poland in Mexico and winning the golden boot, but knowing deep down he was no longer an Everton player.
Should we have sold him? - It was out of our hands nothing would of kept the man at goodison.
Andy Gray circa 84/85 was a better team player to have IMO.

And finally the sad thing about Lineker is that his season with us was just a personal goal scoring feat and in the end we were double runners up to the [Poor language removed].

he may have scored all those goals, but the goals from other sources dried up to supply him. must be great for him to think that during his time here we won feck all, whilst either side of him we were champions.

the casual observer of tv football wouldnt even realise he'd ever played for us. i hold him repsonsible for the tag, "and finally Everton".

for me, Andy Gray as a player, for us.

Wish we had a striker like him now.
Quite,

I was miffed at Gray going at time but seeing him hit a hat trick in his first home game if i recall correctly changed my mind the lad was class just a bloody shame we won nowt with him while he was here, that and he was sold for far too little even back tehn

i could be wrong but i seem to remeber we were his 2nd choice after mu but they woulnd pay the fee we did i was 14/15 at the time andy gray was my hero
