The Krays actually got chased away from manchester, every city now claims it happened there as well. Including Newcastle!

believable

wouldnt take much to terrorise the southern fairies

purple aki would probably be mayor down there

They would be lining up in their droves to squat before Mayor Aki.

The local lids would call him Uncle Purps in that ridiculous Cockney/ Jamaican accent they have down there.

a few years in the Mayoral hot seat, then he'd be shipped off to the House of Lords.

Lord Purps.

The fella I always felt sorry for was the neighbour of John Gotti who accidently ran over Gottis son and killed him, could you imagine the thoughts going through your head with that little starter for the day?

Strangely enough the neighbour disappeared and was said to have been dissolved in a bath of acid.

Every northern town or city have the same story of how they were met at the train station and sent packing. The krays ran a small part of london, i doubt they were really interested in the north.

I miss it badly already. Mostly I just miss watching Van Alden go off on a mad one.

I think the writers got the inspiration for that scene from when Mick threatened to iron your face in the middle of the street.

Always find US street gangs the most interesting. Them Mexican gangs with their entire bodies and face tattooed strutting around in shorts and white socks look menacing as feck.

The Aryan brotherhood and ethnic gangs etc. In the prison system all interesting.

This really... To be honest The Krays were their own worst enemies due to their ( more so Ronnie's) need to be recognised and feared. There is a well documented story of them travelling down to Manchester and they were actually met on the station....not by any manc gang but by the police who basically turned them back.... Same as Liverpool, Newcastle ( where they actually had a few business contacts) and even Cardiff. You have to remember though, Britain was a larger place in them days ( less motorways and poorer travel capabilities ). It would have been impossible to have any influence in any major city other than London for them.
