Games worth buying or avoiding.

Have you seen all of the amazing Kinect hacks out there? MS actually came out with some really decent hardware. The move leaves a little to be desired. In terms of games, MS need to take advantage of the hardware they have put out there and get the actual gamers wanting Kinect. I feel in time, this will happen, and it won't be exclusively for social/party games.

Some of the stuff I saw on youtube is really cool. The people who create with it said that if MS didn't make it for the XBox then a piece of equipment like Kinect would perhaps cost more than $10,000.

The tech in kinect is astounding, don't get me wrong, but games make or break games consoles.

But without a tangible controller, and the subsequent multitude of buttons for efficient input, it starts to look a lot more limited. Add to that that all of the games out currently for it are party games, fitness games and/or shovelware crap. Kinect has possibly the worst launch lineup of all time. Admittedly Sony's move lineup isn't that great yet, but at least they've shown their tech working with the kind of games long term gamers actually want to play.

Interesting. Bare in mind I have used neither of the two (Kinect or Move), but all the tech blogs seem to feel Kinect had a much stronger launch than the Move. I am sure MS and 3rd party developers aren't going to waste the potential to be had. Or to be fair, they could very well do that and these end up like the 32-X for the Mega Drive/Genesis or something.

Sales wise, the kinect blitzed the move. So from a retail perspective I'd be bumming kinect now. Potential-wise, I can't say. I'm not a dev.

I am however, a consumer and a gamer. A clichéd gamer; a nerd, not a 40 year old housewive jiggling her arse to fitness software. And speaking as a nerd/gamer, I can say that kinect excites me very little. None of the announced games look at all interesting. The move however, has proven to be compatible with core games, without dumbing it down, but rather enhancing it.

All of the game journo feedback from KZ3 for example, seems to be positive; the same great game, but with more immersion courtesy of motion controls. That's the potential I saw in motion controls when the Wii was announced, half a decade ago. Not the stroking of virtual ponies or the imaginary tossing of a frying pan (sadly that's not as hyperbolic as it should be!)

For the record I've used the move and kinect. They're both good pieces of tech, no doubt, but software is where it's at.

That's why I got sick of the Wii, and am not bothered about kinect; family games; party games; [Poor language removed] games.

However, the move looks ace. Mainly because unlike the other two, Sony plan on using it in proper, core games. Killzone 3 for example. I am by all means a 360 gamer, but I'll defo get the move for my PS3 when Killzone 3 comes out.

Me too, I like to shoot things and kill people, not having a interaction..

The journo feedback from Daikatana during development was positive as well :P

The big software companies are going to do what makes them the money, and if it pisses off people like you and me, then that is going to be what they do.

I sincerely do hope that both peripherals potential are realized and they are successes as that is good for people like us.

Well the point I was making, was that gradually after E3 09, the journo feedback for natal/kinect got worse and worse. Eventually its release was met with a bit of a "meh", whereas back at E3 09 it was met with a "OMGWTFBBQLOOKMANOHANDS". I think the journos got deja vu from it; the wii; false promises.

There's lots of time for kinect, admittedly though.

The point was with the move, is that the journo feedback -- all opinion aside -- seems to confirm the move can, from a functionality perspective, be implemented into the kind of games us core gamers love. Kinect meanwhile has nothing to show in that department.

I hope they can both be fully realised though, of course I do. More good and innovative games are something I will always welcome.

Playstation network has a mini game in the PSN Store called ( Vector ) Very fun, very addicting.. it's like 3 bucks..

Have to agree as ever since MS showed that milo demo(i called BS on it "interacting" it was scripted all the way)its taken the edge off the impressive tech behind Kinnect it not helped because of the bog standard crap arse games that are out for it a bit limp,a wii rip off if you will but in a higher res.

What MS should have done was wait for their next console and bundled it out with it it could have revolutionized gaming as it is its another curio in the pantheon of games controllers,as you rightly point out the software just isnt there for it nor i suspect will it ever be but if MS and indeed sony had said to dev's heres our next controller, use it or lose the games and both peices of tech could have been outstanding.
