Our game in hand (away to Arsenal) could be key. If we won it we could overtake the Gunners, close to within 3 points of fourth-placed Spurs and put 6 points between us and Liverpool. And the task isn't as formidable as it has been in recent years for a number of reasons:
- In recent matches at the Emirates Arsenal have been beaten by Bayern Munich, Blackburn and City, held by Liverpool and only narrowly overcame Villa, Stoke and Swansea.
- Wilshere and Diaby's injury concerns mean that they are short on numbers in defensive midfield.
- The last time that either Giroud or Walcott found the net in a league game was 6 matches ago in January.
- Mis-firing Stoke are the only team in the league not to score at the Emirates since Christmas.
Which means both Giroud and Walcott will score against us and we won't score.
