Good to see Hurling on the screen in Britain! Saturday at 6pm Kilkenny and Offaly are playing in front of the Sky cameras. Their marketing of the games, however, leave a lot to be desired.

I've got a mate over this week from Kilkenny, he moved back there a couple of years ago and has got properly back into this, I have no idea on any of the rules though.

Three points for a goal, one point over the bar. Can't take more than four steps with the ball without passing it or bouncing it.
That's just about the basics.

In terms of the season, the main event is the All-Ireland County Hurling/Football Championship. It's a quarter-final/semi-final/final formula, and they make it up of the four provincial championship winners (which take place before the All-Ireland) and qualifiers, who have lost provincial games and play against other losing sides to gain the other four places in the Quarter Finals. Usually, the All-Ireland Semis and Final attract 85,000 in both Hurling and Football.

There's some quirks, like London and New York play in Connacht - because there aren't enough counties, unlike Leinster who have too many counties and therefore, with Ulster, have play-in rounds to the Quarter Finals of the Provinces.

Cheers mate, I'll sound like a pro when I see him over the weekend. Was just having a little look at his Facebook and there's comments up of Kilkenny vs Galway I think he said and something about 2012 champions, and this is his profile pic.

I was at Monaghan-Donegal last year, first time the Farney men had won an Ulster title since 1988. The party afterwards was, shall we say, enjoyable.

Clare won the Hurling Championship last year 5-13 (five goals, thirteen points - 28) to 3-16 (25), in an absolutely cracking game, but one thing. Don't lose sight of the ball, it's small and you won't find it for AGES if you lose it because it moves fast all of the time.

Not the game Sky would have hoped for, but the coverage isn't dreadful and it's helpful for our new followers to see what the score is. Cats are battering Offaly everywhere on the pitch
