future of the EPL outside the sky 6

Player Valuation: £35m
I just thought I would sound out some other evertonians on my thought of where the premiere league is going after I posted a whole page rant on Facebook declaring how proud I was of my club and the behaviour of the Chelsea players and some refereeing decisions. Most people on my facebook page support clubs in the sky 6 and didn't take to kindly to told the ref's are biased towards their clubs. When you add to it that the FFP has become a laughing stock combined with the clubs with money are buying the cream of the world football talent and youth talent if they need it or not, I can see a time in a few years where clubs not in the usual top 6 play it like a league cup game and play the reserves. I wonder what Chelsea season ticket holders would say to paying £75 to watch burnley's B team or evertons U21's. I always dream that a team on our budget could, if we play well get a result against anyone, but the chances of beating teams with 40m pound players in every position and the ref is getting borderline impossible now.

FFP should be you can spend a maximum net spend of around £40 million on players and include a maximum team wage cap of around £1 million a week. with some flexibility of spending in previous years taken into account. regardless of how much "profit" a team makes as we have seen with man city giving them selves money making it look it's been achieved through business.

or something similar a long those lines that don't include jarg maths and calculations by an idiot on a football forum main point is there should be a maximum spending cap each season with an overall team wage cap not a wage cap on individuals so there is no cheating the system.

I don't know 4/5/6 depends what paper you read

We finished 5th last year and 6th the year previously. Year before that Newcastle were 5th, 2 years before that villa were 6th, this yeah southampton are 4th.

You're talking one year out of 23 where the sky 6 as you call them are the top 6 teams in the league.

How the hell are they the 'usual top 6' as you call it?

Let the buggers breakaway to form a 'super league' and let them play meaningless games in front of sparse attendances. You think it's expensive now to follow football ; just imagine the costs involved in travelling.
If you couldn't win the 'super league', what then ? Aim for the top 4 and - Oh, wait well ermm, bugger

Meanwhile the rest of the paupers would play more exciting, even and meaningful games in a league which would be have an element of risk and reward, and competition becomes a meaningful word again.

Bloated and superannuated foreign 'stars' can have a choice, be rich as Croesus, or actually remember why they started playing football in the first place.

If the rest of the 'ordinary' clubs left the vampiric elite perhaps that would shatter their self - obsessed smugness.
Rant over, time for a cup of tea.

I'm almost sure that who are the 'ordinary clubs' and who are the 'vampiric elite' depends on who you ask.

I'm sure spurs see themselves as plucky underdogs. And I know a lot of clubs see us as the hated elite.

If only they knew what it was like in the hated elite

I honestly think there will be a European Super League type thing within the next 20 years.

It seems likely that this will happen despite UEFA's best efforts to stop it via the expansion of the CL competition. Money talks in the end and the elite of Europe know that they can expand their income streams by creating their own competition and negotiating their own broadcasting deal.

While the product itself will be appealing to the average TV viewer it can't be good for the game itself as everyone else will be left behind to fight it out in their own domestic competitions.

Great if you're in it, not so if you're not. Which is the real tragedy of the last 25-30 years as far as EFC is concerned.

The Gravy Train is leaving and we are not aboard. And if we're not on it at the start it will be near impossible to get on board later.

Sky 6 now is it?

Righto.

whatever flexible single digit number 'they', the media, are hyping at any given time, we won't be one of them, even if we are actually above one or more of the 'darlings' in the table.

I can see it might happen that the EPL might schism sooner or later, especially if the bottom line can justify it and it will be devil take the hindmost.
