It’s a funny game isn’t it? I remember watching the game when he scored in the World Cup and he had the world at his feet. World Cup winner, top bird and now he i off on a free in his peak years.
I am just glad I am not that good at sport to play at the highest level, I would hate to have the skill and think what could of been. (I think this lad Refused to play in a CL final because it was against a BM who he had signed for but not joined at that time - sell out)

Think some players just have a lot of upside and for whatever reason don’t fulfil it.

In this country Walcott, Barkley, Carroll are three which spring to mind. Walcott going to The World Cup in 2006, had the world at his feet, and shoes so many glimpses of brilliance, the Hat Trick in Croatia for example but that was one of few appearances in big time games where he showed up.

Not including Wilshere because... well, he’s never been any good for me.
But Gotze just peaked early didn’t he? Must of had something about him to play in a World Cup final and score the winner, don’t know what played a part in his demise, but just because the top two in Germany don’t want him, doesn’t mean he’s not a good player still.

Wouldnt include like the likes of Adu, because how many times do you hear of wonder kids never even cracking a big league?

Pretty sure Goetze ended up with a muscle wasting disease that out him out for about 2 years which wouldn't help. Although I think he was starting to be benched by Pep at Bayern before then.

Wilshire had an incredible talent and could have possibly bossed England’s midfield for years , unfortunately he was dogged with injuries throughout his career .... huge shame as technically he was levels above any of his English peers at the time.
