No idea what it's like in Liverpool, but here in the States we're getting an incredible winter blast. I live in Kentucky (not prone to extreme winters), and it's currently -9F. The entire city is frozen solid.

Is this winter worse than normal over there?

Warmer than it should be imo, with a fair few wind storms mate

No just grey very wet and cold. Although the news would have you believe it's monsoon season.

T-shirt weather in Cambridgeshire, blue skies, beautiful day. Only had to scrape ice off the car once this winter so far.

With all the storms coming in from the west if it meets a cold front at some point in the future I think we'll get biblical amounts of snow, albeit only for a few days.

The British winter is rubbish, temperatures about 7c, wet and windy. Rather have proper winters with regular snow so we can properly prepare for it.

Europe, generally speaking, is much warmer than the United States during winter unless you're in Scandinavia and are heading towards the Arctic Circle.

Also -9F in Kentucky must be awful. It's -12F here in Milwaukee right now, but at least we accommodate for it around here. I suspect there aren't very many double pane windows and insulated pipes in Louisville.

It's barely dipped below 10 degrees in the south of England. Bit more wind and rain than is normal for this time of year, but a total absence of snow and it's unusually warm for December / January.

Having said that, it doesn't matter what weather we get in the UK - we can't deal with any of it.

Heading to -17C with a wind chill of nearly -40 tonight here. And we just had about 20 centimetres of snow overnight. Gonna have to teach my old dog to use the ****ter as going outside won't be an option.

Terrible here. I'm originally from Chicago, but not used to the hard winters anymore. Wind chill is pushing -20 here, and this place NEVER gets negative temperatures.
